1905 Walking Ensemble

I made this walking outfit from 1905 out of mostly thrifted materials!

Here are some pictures and details of how I made this!

The outfit consists of two outer pieces: a synthetic silk orange walking skirt and a heavy cotton day blouse with lace insertions. I wore this as part of my Halloween costume! Here are some pictures from a graveyard. The skirt closes with snaps and hooks and eyes and the blouse buttons down the back collar and yoke. I used Folkwear sewing patterns for both the skirt and the blouse and wore it all over my Edwardian combinations, S-bend corset, corset cover, bum pad, and two other skirts I own as petticoats. Cotton and synthetic fiber stockings and shoes I thrifted for $8. It was surprisingly comfortable to wear, and I've worn the full ensemble for twice for the whole day with no discomfort!

(Me begging my sister not to blackmail me with this odd photo in which I pretend to be... I'm not even sure what this emotion it...)

(Sycamore tree... my skirt got caught on a bush :/)

(I love this view of the back)
